Blogging In The Classroom

Blogging in EDM 310 has been a very great experience for me. I can see where it could be a very useful tool in education. Before I came into EDM 310, I never really used a Blog. It has opened my eyes to a new and powerful resource. Since I have started my blog, I have found myself searching for other blogs pertaining to my interests.
In my opinion, I think blogs in classrooms would be a tool for learning. It could be beneficial for some students, but there are those who can not work a computer. I understand in education we, as teachers, are to teach students how to do this. However, for poorer families who do not have computers, the ability to train the students at school would be challenging. The only time a student such as this would have access to a computer would be at school. A teacher would be limited to what they could do with the blog unless all students had a computer at home.
A good aspect to a blog in the classroom would be for the parents of the students. If every parent had access to the internet, the teacher could post what was going on in the class for the parents to see. It would be like a bulletin board for the class and the parents. I think one day very soon a blog could be helpful, not only to the students, but also to the teachers and parents.

I really like the whole "bulletin idea." On the Scholastic website they have a tool for teachers to be able to make a class website and then use it in that same way.
